In the tiny hamlet of Portersville, north of Pittsburgh, PA, are two jewels whose sparkle draws people from the entire tri-state area. Located side by side are Vivienne’s, an antique shop of the sort one finds in Williamsburg, and Abundance, a paradise of arts and seasonable home décor. Vivienne’s is set in a country farmhouse that was built in 1832, so the building itself is a beautifully restored antique. In such a setting you can truly appreciate the collection of 19th century furniture, accessories and collectibles. Each room at Vivienne’s is furnished, as it would be in a house. An 1810 banquet table might grace the dining room, while and English racket arm sofa highlights the room. The upstairs wakes the memories of a long rainy afternoon exploring grandmother’s attic. It is a treasure trove of blanket chests, rocking chairs, colorful patchwork quilts, dolls, and vintage toys. Across the hall the “Victorian” bedroom is graced with a beautiful bed an American spindle- half arrow back setter with green painted designs, and a cradle. Displayed in the claw foot bath tub are beautifully made sachets, lingerie bags, soaps, creams and gifts to please the woman with discriminating taste. Vivienne's also has interior design fabrics, wallpapers, hand made needlepoint, and band hooked rugs.
